We Are Blerd Galaxy!

Blerd Galaxy is a community organization dedicated to reporting on nerd media with the Blerd consumer in mind. There are many other Black nerd media sites and organizations out here–many of which we champion and support. We at Blerd galaxy believe that there is room for another voice in this space. We have had enough of seeing only media that only focuses on Blerds until they get crossover credits. We, the Blerd and independent creator community want more. We deserve more.

Our aim is to not only stay true to the Blerd and independent creator communities in our reporting, but we will use our platform to educate. Yes, we will train up the next generation of voices in news and pop culture reporting through internships and targeted journalistic training. This way, we can create a stream of prepared new BIPOC, young people armed with both skill and journalistic integrity needed to cover the communities they love. We want to be the gateway for writers, artists, photographers, and the next generation of Blerds to enter into this space prepared to be their best selves!

Blerd Galaxy is not about us and our world, it is about preparing for a bright and brave future for BIPOC in the journalistic universe. It’s about helping them blaze trails into whatever sphere to which we can help them gain access. It’s about covering the spaces that often are left unattended to.
